The first cut removed anything that relied on novelty. If the case for a piece was that it felt new, or that nobody had done it quite like this before — it was cut. Novelty is a weak reason for a garment to exist. It fades faster than the fabric.
What remained were pieces that had a clear reason to be worn. The canvas jacket: a shell you can put on at 7am and not think about again. The silent duffle: a bag built for the kind of travel that doesn't announce itself. The ash longsleeve: a cotton weight that actually requires an opinion — not too light to be substantive, not so heavy it becomes a statement.
The second cut removed anything that required an explanation. If we found ourselves saying "the idea is..." or "it's meant to feel like...", the piece was gone. Things that work do not require interpretation.
The third cut was the hardest. Some pieces were good. They were well-made, well-proportioned, honest in their construction. But they were not SNØM. Not because they broke any rule — we don't have rules, we have a register — but because they didn't belong in the same room as the others.
Twelve pieces. No filler. That is the only promise we made to ourselves going in, and the only one we intend to keep.
